Woman marries man with head injury who forgot their breakup from seven months prior

A woman has shared the unusual story of how her ex-boyfriend suffered a head injury and forgot they had broken up, which eventually led to them rekindling their relationship.

In February 2020, Jenna decided to end her relationship with Mitchell due to feeling overwhelmed by various aspects of her life.

Just a day after their breakup, Mitchell had an accident that resulted in a serious concussion, erasing his memory of their recent split.

Following the breakup, Mitchell went skiing at Beaver Mountain in Utah.

According to Jenna, who spoke to People, Mitchell, 22, attempted a jump in icy conditions and landed on his head, resulting in a blackout from a severe concussion.

Upon regaining consciousness, Mitchell couldn’t recall the breakup and reached out to Jenna for help.

Jenna recounted, “Mitch kept messaging me and trying to hang out after his concussion. I was puzzled as to why he would keep contacting me since we had broken up.”

She added, “I thought maybe he took the promise of staying friends too seriously. He even showed up with ice cream for my roommates and me when we had a bad day.”

Regretting her decision to end things, Jenna mustered the courage to ask Mitchell if they could give their relationship another shot, only to realize Mitchell had no memory of their breakup.

Jenna explained that she had initially told Mitchell about the breakup while they were in her car, determined to end things for good.

“He told me he didn’t remember any of that except for chatting in the car,” she continued. “But he didn’t remember what we chatted about.”

Fortunately, Mitchell found the situation amusing and Jenna felt relieved.

She concluded, “It made it easy to get back together because to him, we never weren’t together!”

Five months later, the couple got engaged and married in September 2020.

Reflecting on their journey, Jenna said, “During my husband’s speech, he mentioned not remembering the breakup but expressed gratitude that everything worked out in the end.”

She added, “We are both 27 now and when people ask us about our love story, it’s our favorite part to tell. We really felt invisible strings pulling us together all along.”
