A woman’s unique method of disciplining her neighbor’s son has captured the internet’s attention after he targeted her beloved cat.
Shannon Cooper has ignited online debates by revealing that she retaliated against the young boy by dousing him with water after he did the same to her cat. She detailed the incident on X (formerly Twitter), prompting a flood of comments from users split on her approach.
A user criticized her actions, commenting, “It’s very childish how you handled it. You should have informed the parents first so they could deal with their child. As a parent, I’d prefer to manage my own kid’s discipline. It’s not right what he did, but he’s not your child to discipline.”

Following her viral post, Cooper elaborated on the incident, explaining that she and the neighbor are actually friends, which adds another layer to the public’s reaction.
“People are really upset over this,” she elaborated. “The kid and his dad actually laughed it off today; we are friends. Also, the dad wasn’t aware of what his son did initially, which explains his initial reaction. And just for the record, the kid is 13, though he looks 10.”
She also shared a photo of her cat, who appeared unharmed by the ordeal.
