A woman recently shared details about her unconventional sleeping arrangement with her boyfriend, sparking mixed reactions among viewers.
On TikTok, Kacie creates content highlighting her affectionate relationship with her boyfriend, Christian. The couple often refers to each other as ‘soul mates’ and shares playful banter about Kacie being the talkative one. They also joke about disagreements, sharing food, and attempting to enjoy each other’s hobbies, like sports.
Despite moving in together last year, the couple in their 20s has opted for a non-traditional sleeping arrangement, which has been a topic of discussion.
In a viral video she posted, Kacie showcases her tidy and feminine bedroom featuring Hello Kitty blankets and cozy lighting. The video, which has amassed over five million views, then transitions to a downstairs room, which is messier and has minimal decor.
The video is captioned: “Pov: you & your bf live together but have separate rooms,” while Kacie adds in the caption: “10/10 recommend.”
Opinions were split among viewers, with some praising the arrangement as ‘healthy’ for couples to have personal space, while others expressed disbelief at the idea of not sleeping beside their partner.
One viewer questioned: “Me and my man sleep together. How is the love life for separate bedroom?”
Another echoed this sentiment: “I understand having our own space, but I will always sleep in the same bed as my man.”
A third person shared: “I support people who do this but, in my opinion, I could never do this. I need the comfort of my partner to sleep. Plus, we can still have space but sleep together in the same room.”
Many others, however, praised the idea as ‘so healthy,’ especially for couples dealing with snoring, restless sleeping, or conflicting work schedules.
One user shared: “Yess we have separate beds and it made sleeping so much better!” She explained that her partner’s loud snoring and constant movement made it difficult for her to rest.
“I don’t understand why people are so offended over this,” she added.
Another user commented: “This should be normalized more! It’s healthy, still loving each other but also having some alone time. You don’t have to do everything together.”
Further supporting the practice, some mentioned their parents have maintained long and happy marriages while sleeping in separate rooms, saying it ‘just works for some people.’
One individual stated, “It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for my relationship,” while another agreed that the arrangement with his girlfriend of 13 years was something he ‘definitely’ recommends.
Others enjoyed the concept, appreciating the ability to decorate their own spaces and noting that it makes ‘nights on the couch’ after disagreements more comfortable.
While traditional views may see sleeping apart as a negative sign, research from Naturepedic.com suggests the contrary, indicating that couples who maintain separate bedrooms experience better sleep quality and lower stress levels.
