In a spine-chilling turn captured on video, a couple shares a kiss in an elevator moments before tragedy strikes. This would be the last time Luiz Ormond was seen alive before his death under mysterious circumstances in his Rio de Janeiro apartment.
On May 20, Ormond was found deceased, his body discovered by neighbors who alerted the police due to a disturbing odor emanating from his flat.
He was found lifeless on his living room sofa, a visible mark on his head indicating a possible injury. By the time investigators arrived, Ormond’s body was in a highly decomposed state, complicating the efforts to determine the exact cause of death.
An autopsy performed raised more questions than answers, revealing traces of chocolate in Ormond’s digestive system.
Authorities are now probing the possibility that Ormond was poisoned by a brigadeiro, a beloved Brazilian chocolate dessert, which he may have consumed shortly before his death.
Suspicion has fallen on Ormond’s partner, Júlia Cathermol, who is believed to have possibly laced the dessert with poison.
Neighbours last spotted the couple together on May 17, reportedly just three days before Ormond’s grim discovery.
CCTV footage from the building’s elevator captured their final moments together. During this encounter, Cathermol was seen holding a bottle, while Ormond carried a plate wrapped in packaging, suspected to contain the fatal brigadeiros.
Further footage from May 19 shows Cathermol exiting the building for a gym session, returning later, perhaps after committing the unthinkable.
The plot thickens as Cathermol’s friend, Suyane Breschak, was arrested following evidence suggesting her involvement in disposing of Ormond’s possessions post-mortem.
Breschak was implicated in the sale of a car, allegedly to settle a significant debt Cathermol owed her, and claimed that Cathermol had been regularly paying her substantial sums of money.
Shockingly, Breschak revealed that Cathermol confessed over a call that Ormond was dead and described the desperate measures she took to manage the situation, including wrapping the body in bed sheets and using fans to mitigate the odor. She even mentioned cleaning the apartment with bleach and noticing vultures at the window, drawn by the smell.
Authorities suspect Cathermol remained in the apartment with Ormond’s body until May 20. She was last seen leaving the flat with suitcases and is now a person of interest in this chilling investigation.
