A woman has shared her intriguing experience after attending a unique retreat focused on orgasms.
When people imagine retreats, they typically envision peaceful activities like yoga, massages, and gentle exercises. However, this specific retreat in California offers a different kind of exploration.
Located in Joshua Tree National Park, the Back to Body Sex Retreat caters to women aiming to deepen their understanding of personal sexual satisfaction.
One participant detailed her experience after spending several days at the retreat.
While the usual cost for this experience is around $14,700, Sex and Dating columnist Jana Hocking from the Mail Online attended the retreat for just over $1,300.
During an appearance on the Just Between Us podcast, Jana recounted her experiences.
Reflecting on her time there, Jana said: “I thought it would be full of extroverts who were outlandish and wanted to perform in front of each other, but it really wasn’t.
“They were either getting divorced and realized they hadn’t had a proper orgasm and wanted to right wrongs, while other women were dealing with trauma and needed to learn how to enjoy sex again, which was quite heartbreaking.”
Jana elaborated on the retreat’s philosophy, which emphasizes the importance of prioritizing one’s sexual needs.
Describing the first activity, she mentioned that each participant shared their reasons for attending, noting that this was one of the more subdued parts of the experience.
Led by founder Pamela Marsden and her team, the group also participated in tantric meditation.
Jana described one exercise: “We had to hold our vulvas and rock back and forth, either naked or in our underwear, and speak to our vulva and tell it what we wanted, who we wanted to be and what our goals were.
“My goal was to take back ownership of my sexuality because I realized I was performing — I can do a Meg Ryan orgasm like the best of them — but am I having a real orgasm? Am I putting my needs first?’”
The retreat included various activities such as bondage, sensory deprivation, and different types of touch facilitated by the helpers.
In one session, Marsden was brought to orgasm by a male helper after half an hour of foreplay, observed by the attendees.
“It just went on so long I got bored,” Hocking commented.
Another session involved a urologist demonstrating female anatomy using Marsden’s body as a guide.
“We all stood around as the urologist kind of pointed at her private parts,” she explained. “This is your labia, this is your clit.”
Jana noted that she was the only participant who didn’t achieve orgasm during the retreat, but she now feels more confident and prepared to reach climax in her own space.
