Woman shares her unconventional relationship with sister that ‘many would disapprove’

In New Zealand, a woman’s revelation about her sister dating her ex-husband has sparked widespread attention online.

Statistics from Stats NZ indicate a decline in the divorce rate, with 7.6 divorces per 1,000 estimated marriages and civil unions in contrast to 9.3 back in 2013.

While 2024’s statistics are yet to be released, it’s reported that one couple who finalized their divorce this year includes 37-year-old mother of two, Timara, and her unnamed ex-husband.

The Daily Mail reports that Timara, a social media personality, was married to her ex-husband for ten years but separated after their first year together.

Following their divorce earlier this year, Timara has disclosed that her ex-husband is now romantically involved with her sister.

She shared this news in a viral Instagram video which gained significant traction earlier in the week.

In the short video, the two sisters are seen standing side by side with overlay text that reads: “Wait, is your sister with your ex husband/baby daddy??”

The text soon changes to ‘yup’ before they start dancing. In the caption, Timara noted: “It’s keeping it in the family. Yup it’s weird but I choose not to be bothered by it.”

The video attracted numerous reactions from social media users, with one person saying: “We listen and we don’t judge.”

Another user commented: “Naah I can mature bout some things I mean my cousin did that to me and my kids but MY SISTER?! Yeah nah that dont fly. Good for yous though I guess sis.”

“That’s my family for yall, we keep it in the family,” another person chimed in.

One user added: “Your a better woman then me cause I could nevaaaaa and thats just being honest.”

A fifth person wrote: “I really had to reread this at least 5 times to understand it. She is not bothered, then neither am I.”

“What does he look like please, we look and we don’t judge,” another user inquired.

After the video reached over 386,000 views, Timara shared with the Daily Mail how she realized her sister was dating her ex-husband.

“There wasn’t really a conversation, I just noticed they were together and that was that,” she told the publication.

Although many might find the situation concerning, Timara insists she is fine with her sister’s choice.

“I’m okay with it because everybody deserves love and happiness. My focus is on my own life, my little family and making sure I’m there for my daughter mentally and emotionally because she’s the only one that matters in the situation.”
