Woman shares touching reason her boyfriend includes carrots in his daily diet

A woman uncovered the touching reason her boyfriend was so enthusiastic about eating carrots.

Maintaining a food diary can be an excellent method for tracking one’s diet, although the holiday season often leads to indulgent eating habits.

For one woman, her boyfriend’s food diary unveiled a poignant truth about his dietary preferences, particularly his frequent consumption of carrots.

Carrots, whether enjoyed raw or in a warming soup, are a versatile vegetable.

However, on a particular day in September, her boyfriend incorporated carrots into every meal—from breakfast with eggs and sourdough, to lunch alongside chicken and broccoli, an afternoon snack, and dinner with salmon and mashed potatoes.

This was far more than most people consume, but the reason behind his carrot-heavy diet is what truly touched her.

In a TikTok video that gathered about 9.6 million views, she shared that her boyfriend’s carrot habit stemmed from being teased for his pale complexion as a child.

Overlaying text in the video read: “I’m actually crying. My boyfriend just told me the reason he eats carrots every day is that kids used to bully him for being so pale in third grade.”

The revelation sparked numerous reactions in the comments section.

One commenter humorously referenced the myth that carrots improve night vision, saying: “We see he DOESN’T wear glasses.”

Another asked sincerely: “Does this help? Because I constantly get told how pale I am and I am annoyed.”

Another added: “I mean his parents must have been grateful he loved carrots but it’s also sad.”

Interestingly, consuming carrots might contribute to a tanned appearance.

According to Healthline, foods rich in beta carotene, such as carrots, kale, and sweet potatoes, could help achieve a tan without burning, though further research is necessary to confirm this.

Despite this, it’s crucial to apply sunscreen when spending time in the sun, and remember to reapply it to ensure continued protection.

It’s also important not to overindulge in carrots, as excessive consumption can alter skin tone unintentionally.

Overeating carrots can lead to carotenosis, a real condition that gives the skin an orange hue due to high carotene intake.

Fortunately, this condition is reversible.
