A woman’s TikTok video of her performing her ‘leg day warm up’ attracted the attention of a fellow gym-goer who approached her with some harsh remarks.
Increasingly, people are turning to social media to post videos from their gym sessions, often to highlight others’ behavior. However, this sometimes leads to a debate about the actions of both parties involved.
Madi Ruvee, known on TikTok as @yourfavouritedaughter, shared a video in which she was trying to film her workout at the gym when a man confronted her.
In the video, Madi is seen doing what looks like a deep squat while holding a weight and rocking back and forth. She is then interrupted by a man who asks her what she is doing.
She responds: “My leg day warm up.”
To which he replies: “No don’t give me that bulls**t, I know you know what you’re doing.”
The man continues: “You realize you’re actually what’s wrong with girls? […] Keep this s**t online.”
While viewers agreed the man was wrong to confront her in this manner, they also questioned whether Madi was actually performing ‘pulse squats’.
One user commented: “After looking at pulse squats, those were not pulse squats. But why did he care so much? I would’ve just ignored it cuz with, not my business.”
Another added: “Fitness trainer instructor/trainer for 15 years- Never seen leg day warm up like that.” A third simply stated: “Girl what warmup is that.”
Despite the critique, many agreed the man had no right to speak to her that way or to kick her phone afterward.
One person wrote: “Even if they’re not pulse squats what gives him the right to approach her like that.”
Another user added: “He shouldn’t have kicked your phone but seriously, come on… we all know that wasn’t a leg warm up.”
However, one comment suggested the man was ‘100 percent valid,’ prompting Madi to respond in a follow-up video.
She stated: “So just because I do [OnlyFans] I’m not allowed to stretch at the gym? Because before I started [OnlyFans] I was doing that same stretch before every leg day.”
Support also came from other commenters, with one writing: “I am so sorry this happen to you, it is rude obnoxious behavior on his behalf and at his age he should know better, I’m sorry that this happened.”
Another user replied: “That guy was a jerk. You have every right to stretch.”
In another TikTok post, Madi clarified that she was doing deep squats and added: “I don’t know why we have to sexualize everything.”
She concluded: “It’s really sad to me to see all these comments saying that I deserve something because I went to the gym and I was stretching.”
