Woman suggests this phone habit reveals if someone is wealthy or not

A woman has suggested that you can determine if someone is wealthy based on a particular phone habit they exhibit.

While there are some typical signs of affluence – such as the designer clothes they wear or the luxury car they drive – these usually indicate that a person is financially well-off.

Of course, it’s possible they are relying on credit and living beyond their means, but often, such possessions reflect significant financial resources.

However, it seems there is a specific phone habit that can quickly reveal whether a person is truly wealthy or not.

The answer might surprise you, as it’s somewhat unexpected. According to Jamie, a woman who shared this insight, this habit—one many of us are guilty of—is a clear sign that someone might not have much money.

So, what is this habit?

Apparently, endlessly doomscrolling on your phone is a telltale sign of not being financially secure.

“Do you know what I think will be one of the biggest class indicators going forward, not even that long from now, I think in the very near future? It’s going to be over-reliance on the use of technology,” Jamie explained in an Instagram video.

Before you jump to conclusions about this sweeping statement, she elaborates on her reasoning, whether you agree or not.

As mentioned, many of us are guilty of this behavior, and Jamie explained how people can become ‘overwhelmed by everything going on’ in the world, using doomscrolling as a form of escape.

“Who needs a break?” Jamie asked. “People that are overworked and burnt out, and that’s not people who live a life of leisure.”

She continued: “People that make more money, are richer, are wealthier… you don’t see them or their kids being iPad kids. You see them putting their kids into activities…kids that grow up well aren’t the ones over-reliant on technology.”

Another way you might discern if someone is affluent is by observing their resting ‘rich face’ or ‘poor face’.

While the term ‘resting b*tch face’ is well-known, a recent study suggests people can judge whether someone is ‘rich’ or ‘poor’ based on facial characteristics alone.

Researchers from the University of Glasgow discovered that faces perceived as ‘rich’ were often seen as more trustworthy, featuring chiselled features, raised brows, and rosy cheeks among other traits.

On the other hand, faces seen as ‘poor’ typically had lowered eyebrows, shorter chins, downturned mouths, and cooler skin tones, which made them appear cold and untrustworthy.

Dr. Thora Bjornsdottir, the lead author of the study, remarked: “People who are perceived to be of high or low social class are also often judged as having advantageous or unfavourable traits, respectively.

“Such judgements are formed even just from facial appearance, and this can have substantial consequences, including disadvantaging those who are perceived to be of lower social class.”
