Woman who went to high school with Taylor Swift claims a lot of people ‘hated her’

Taylor Swift, the pop icon known for her string of hits like ‘Cruel Summer’ and ‘Blank Space,’ has had an extraordinary journey to stardom. Yet, not everyone from her past might applaud her phenomenal success. A TikToker named Jessica McLane, who claims to have attended the same high school as Swift, shared some intriguing details about the singer’s teenage years.

According to McLane, who went to Hendersonville High School in North Carolina alongside Swift, the future superstar wasn’t exactly the most beloved student. In a candid video, McLane expressed a “blanket apology” for not knowing much about Swift personally, as she was more of a “church kid” at the time and only recently became a fan of Swift’s music.

“So in 2006, I’m a freshman in high school, Taylor is, I think, a junior. ‘Teardrops On My Guitar’ had just come out I think over the summer. Obviously, she got really big and that’s the year that she left school, she was homeschooled in 2006,” McLane recalled.

As Swift’s career took off, her classmates’ sentiments didn’t exactly soar with her.

McLane revealed that Swift was generally disliked at school as she started gaining fame: “Keep in mind, these are her peers, you know, this isn’t like just random people on the internet. She’s literally like what 16, 17, leaving high school to pursue a career that people are telling her that she could never have.”

Adding to the drama, some of the subjects of Swift’s songs were still her classmates. “Also, the guys she was writing these songs about, they were still in school. And now they have a hit song about them, talking about what a s****y boyfriend they are, you know?” McLane said.

While McLane admitted to hearing “a lot of rumors” about Swift’s early career, she confirmed that not many had positive things to say about Swift during her high school days.

However, Swift seemingly got her ultimate revenge in 2009 when she invited her former classmates to the CMA Awards.

“She invited us to the CMAs to say ‘F**k you’. And we deserved it,” McLane stated, acknowledging Swift’s bold move.

Swift’s fans, known as Swifties, have passionately responded to McLane’s revelations, with one commenting on the TikTok video, “Sagittarius energy. We forgive but WE NEVER FORGET.” Another expressed, “That’s incredible respect for Taylor Swift,” and yet another chimed in, “Taylor has the last laugh!”
