A woman named Lisa Hart found herself in a life-threatening situation after spending £15,500 ($20,000) on breast surgery.
At 45, Lisa felt dissatisfied with her post-childbirth body after having five children, and she wanted to refresh her appearance.
With her original breast size being 36E, Lisa felt overly self-conscious about her chest, believing people were constantly looking at her. This led her to seek a breast reduction and reconstruction at a clinic in Glasgow, Scotland.
She underwent the surgery, which lasted four hours, in May 2025. Despite the norm of discharging patients on the same day for such procedures, Lisa reportedly left the hospital just an hour after her surgery.
A week later, she observed ‘green fluid’ seeping through her bandages from her right breast, which she claims the clinic deemed normal.
After another month, she noticed abnormalities in the healing of her right breast, with a pea-sized hole developing.

Alongside fever-like symptoms, Lisa consistently raised her concerns with the clinic for over a month but felt ignored.
In June 2025, doctors at a hospital diagnosed her with sepsis, necessitating the removal of the right implant.
As a result, Lisa now has uneven breasts, with her right being a B-cup and her left a C-cup. She finds herself needing to return to the original clinic since other facilities refuse corrective procedures.
Lisa hopes her story serves as a cautionary tale for other women considering surgery.

Lisa expressed, “There was a point where I thought I would die. You hear all the horror stories – but never did I think it would happen to me here in Glasgow.
“The entire ordeal has left me with rock-bottom confidence, and I feel people are still staring at me, but for a different reason.”
She further explained her initial desire to ‘feel womanly’ and her disappointment in her current state.
Recalling her alarming experience, Lisa described the moment she realized something was wrong.

“I was undoing the bandages myself when I first spotted the luminous green yellow liquid,” she revealed. “After a couple of days, the skin on the breast began to split and a hole appeared below the nipple. It was hell.”
When she developed a fever, Lisa felt as though her ‘body was literally failing [her]’.
Throughout, she persistently attempted to communicate with the clinic about her surgery.
Following a sepsis diagnosis five weeks post-surgery and removal of the implant, Lisa spent 10 days in the hospital.
Now, she aims to alert others about the risks associated with cosmetic surgery.
“I want to raise awareness about the dangers of going under the knife and for clinics to be held to account,” Lisa stated. “Having the perfect body isn’t important – and my message is that everyone is perfect.”
