The woman once dubbed the ‘world’s hairiest’ has begun shaving her face, revealing not only a stunning transformation but also a new chapter in her love life.
Supatra ‘Natty’ Sasuphan, a native of Bangkok, Thailand, earned the title of ‘hairiest girl in the world’ from the Guinness World Records in 2010 due to her unusual amount of body hair covering her face, ears, arms, legs, and back.
Fast forward to now, Natty has embraced a striking makeover and is proudly showcasing her new relationship on social media.
Now believed to be 23, Natty has been dealing with Ambras syndrome, also known as ‘Werewolf Syndrome’. This incredibly rare condition is characterized by excessive hair growth that can cover the entire body or just specific areas, according to The Trichological Society.
Historical data suggests that around 50 people have been affected by this genetic condition since the Middle Ages, as reported by the Mirror.
Those with the syndrome often resort to shaving, plucking, or electronic hair removal methods as there is no known cure. Natty herself tried laser treatments, which unfortunately failed to curb her hair growth.
Her father shared with the Daily Mail, “A doctor told us the only way to treat her is with laser treatment. Apart from that, all we could do is shave her. We tried laser treatment but it left her with green marks around her eyes, red eyes and a swollen face.”
Natty has previously expressed to Guinness World Records that her hair made her feel ‘special’ and protected her from being teased and called ‘monkey face’ by her peers.
She explained: “I’m very used to this condition. I can’t feel the hair as it has always been like this. I don’t feel anything. It does sometimes make it difficult to see when it gets long. I hope I will be cured one day.”
Though details about Natty’s recent years have been scarce, Metro reported in 2018 that she got married. Recent social media posts feature her with a smooth, hair-free face, alongside her unnamed husband.
In a heartfelt social media post, she wrote, according to Yahoo: “You’re not just my first lover, you’re the love of my life.” It seems they may have since parted ways, as the reasons for their separation remain undisclosed.
Her father confirmed that Natty hadn’t found a cure, rather, she had started shaving her face. Now, it seems she has found love anew, with her joyous updates capturing the hearts of many online.
Her Facebook profile indicates she is in a ‘domestic partnership’ with Suchada Poonlumpao, and the couple frequently shares charming photos on the platform.
Following the news of her newfound happiness, well-wishers have flooded Facebook with messages of joy, with one person commenting, “Happy for her,” and another adding, “I am glad she found happiness.”
