Wynonna Judd learned she was becoming a grandmother again through TikTok, not from her estranged daughter.
The country star, 60, discovered that Grace Kelley, 30, was pregnant while scrolling the social media platform, she said in a new interview. The revelation came as the two have been cut off from each other for roughly a year.
“I cried and cried and cried because I have another grandbaby, I think,” Judd said in the interview.
“No, I don’t know anything,” Judd claimed when asked about the pregnancy. “I’m heartbroken, and she cut me off a year ago. I’m walking a very interesting walk right now, where I absolutely know very little. As a matter of fact, I learned about it on TikTok.”
The singer recalled laying down in “shock” as she saw the news unfold online.
Despite the painful distance between them, Judd still voiced support for her troubled daughter. “Grace is my love, she is my daughter and I love her dearly. She’s got an addiction to meth, and it’s devastating,” she told the outlet.
Kelley is currently serving a prison sentence of one year and three months at the Rockingham County Jail in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She pleaded guilty in June to the felony charge of driving with a suspended license.
Last month, reports said that Kelley was expecting a baby “on or about Aug. 16.” Her legal team requested a temporary furlough on July 2 so she could give birth outside custody, but a judge denied the request two weeks later.
Kelley previously welcomed daughter Kaliyah in April 2022 and was granted a leave of absence from jail to give birth at that time. Judd is now raising 4-year-old Kaliyah on her Tennessee farm.
Kelley’s criminal record stretches back to 2015. In April 2024, she was arrested for exposing herself on a busy highway in Alabama. Four months later, she was arrested again for attempting to flee a police officer. By October 2024, she was locked up for stealing a pastor’s van in Virginia.
Kelley has spoken publicly about childhood trauma that she says shaped her path. In a 2020 interview with the Daily Progress, she addressed her stepfather’s alleged sexual abuse and how her mother handled the situation.
“When he was arrested and it came out in the news, that’s when she divorced him,” Kelley said of Judd. “I don’t want to talk bad about my mom, but we’ll just say she’s a good performer. She was never a mother.”
For her latest offense, Kelley is set to be released from Rockingham County Jail on Nov. 16. She will subsequently spend five years under supervised probation.
Judd’s revelation about discovering her grandchild via social media underscores the depth of the fracture in a family that has faced public struggles across multiple generations.
Kelley is due to give birth while still incarcerated at the Virginia facility.
