Elon Musk’s social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, was facing intermittent issues on Monday, with hundreds of users reporting problems loading the app, website and feed.
Outage-tracking sites showed a spike in complaints from users who said posts were not refreshing, timelines were slow to load or the service would not open properly at all. Reports appeared to be spread across both mobile and desktop users, though the scale of the disruption was far smaller than some of X’s larger outages earlier this year.
It was not immediately clear what caused the problem, and X had not publicly explained the disruption at the time of writing. In many recent outages, the platform has recovered after a short period, with the number of user reports quickly falling back toward normal levels.
