Zoë Kravitz fuels engagement rumours with one conspicuously hidden detail

As the 2026 Met Gala kicked off on Monday night, A-listers arrived in droves for fashion’s biggest evening — and Zoë Kravitz quickly became one of the most talked-about names, not only for her look but for the way she chose to pose.

The 37-year-old actor stepped out in a Saint Laurent gown by Anthony Vaccarello, made entirely from delicate black lace. Staying aligned with the evening’s aesthetic, she leaned into a Rococo-inspired shape, complete with dramatic hip panniers and an elaborate silhouette.

But it wasn’t only the craftsmanship of the dress that stirred conversation. On the carpet, Kravitz repeatedly positioned herself with her left hand tucked out of sight in the folds of her skirt — a detail that didn’t go unnoticed by viewers following along.

That concealed hand has only intensified rumours that Kravitz and Harry Styles have taken their relationship to the next level. With engagement rings traditionally worn on the left hand, some interpreted the guarded pose as an attempt to keep any jewellery away from cameras.

Speculation about a possible engagement first surfaced last week, after the couple were reportedly seen walking through London with Kravitz wearing a striking diamond ring on that hand.

The chatter then gained momentum when sources described as close to the pair told People that the two are, indeed, engaged — following just eight months of dating.

So far, neither Kravitz nor Styles has commented publicly, leaving fans to read into small details — including a pose that, to many, looked far from accidental.

Whether or not an engagement ring was actually on display at the Gala remains unclear. Still, Vogue referenced a ring in its liveblog coverage, suggesting there may be more behind the rumours than internet guesswork.

Beyond the jewellery speculation, Met Gala guests are expected to follow both a dress code and a theme, using them as a framework to shape their looks.

The event also acts as the grand opening for the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition. Each year’s theme is usually tied to that exhibition, while the dress code tends to offer a looser creative prompt for attendees.

This year’s theme is ‘Costume Art’, reflecting a Costume Institute exhibition that pairs artworks — including paintings and sculptures — with both historical and contemporary fashion.

It looks to deal with ‘the centrality of the dressed body in the museum’s vast collection’.

The dress code is intentionally broad: Fashion is Art. British Vogue says the dress code ‘encourages attendees to consider the many ways that designers use the body as their blank canvas’.
