A celebrity known as an Angelina Jolie ‘lookalike’ stunned her followers by unveiling her true appearance after being released from prison.
Sahar Tabar gained prominence in 2017, earning the nickname ‘zombie Angelina Jolie’ due to her distinctive look. She has now disclosed what she genuinely looks like.
Tabar’s rise to online fame led to her arrest by Iranian authorities in October 2019, as part of a broader effort to clamp down on social media influencers.
She faced charges including blasphemy, inciting violence, earning money through improper means, and corrupting the youth.
In December 2020, she received a ten-year prison sentence, though she was reportedly given a conditional release after spending 14 months in detention awaiting her sentencing.
Tabar’s appearance on the state-owned channel Rokna left many viewers astonished by her real look.
Revealing a face that is neither as emaciated nor as cartoon-like as her online images suggested, Tabar shared: “My mother was telling me to stop, but I didn’t listen.
“Sometimes the words of a stranger or a friend can be more important than those of a parent.”
Commenting on her appearance, one social media user remarked: “It’s amazing how many people put so much thought into what other people are doing to be comfortable in their own skin.
“Maybe if bad-mouthing and judging others wasn’t so common, fewer people would feel the need to alter their appearance.”
Another person commented: “Wow! It’s so sad what lengths people would go to for fame…”
Tabar has since clarified that her previous cartoonish image was created using Photoshop, makeup, and editing. She admitted to manipulating and editing some of the original viral images from 2017.
She stated: “What you saw on Instagram was the computer effects I used to create the image.
“Cyberspace was an easy way. It was much easier than becoming an actor.”
However, she has also acknowledged that some aspects of her appearance were due to cosmetic surgery, including a nose job and lip fillers.
Tabar explained that she often edited her photos for her own amusement, telling Russian news outlet Sputnik: “Now I can see that I have something in common with [Angelina Jolie], but I amuse myself, and to look like someone is not my goal.
“Over time I post a photo, I make my face more fun and funny, it is a form of self-expression, a kind of art.”
