When taking pictures during a bachelorette party, there are certain things you hope not to capture – an unexpected appearance by your ex, a family member like your grandmother, or your fiancé lurking to see if a stripper was involved. However, a group of partygoers experienced a startling revelation when they discovered a mysterious figure in their celebratory photo.
While celebrating their friend’s impending nuptials in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, the group decided to capture some memorable moments with a series of photos.
One image depicts the party standing on a stack of cut tree stumps, smiling for the photo, with some guests holding masks. In another picture, the group strikes poses with arms raised and masks prominently displayed.
However, a closer inspection of the second image reveals a small boy crouched behind one of the stumps, raising eyebrows since he was absent in the first photo taken just moments earlier.
The group reported seeing no child nearby before or after snapping the images, adding to the mystery.
Soon, these photos became internet sensations, sparking various theories among social media users.
One explanation references a local legend about ‘The Blue Boy,’ a child who allegedly stayed at a haunted inn by the loch. According to The Mirror, the child supposedly sleepwalked into the water, resulting in his tragic drowning.
The images were later posted on Reddit’s r/Ghosts by user u/marcusps1, with the caption: “Ghost child seen in background of photo – taken at a girls hen do.”
One commenter dismissed the ghost theory, suggesting: “Not a ghost. Little boy saw group of pretty girls and somehow ended up there.”
Another user observed: “Looks a lot like the face cut out in the second picture. In fact I’m pretty sure it’s that same cut out since it’s not being held by that girl in the ghost picture.”
Yet another speculated: “That doesn’t look like a little boy to me. It looks like a tiny adult. It doesn’t have kid features. What are those cardboard cut-out heads they are holding? Could the small person be one of those maybe? Just wondering because the more I look at it, the LESS it looks like a kid.”
Questions arose about whether the photograph had been digitally altered.
