This Amethyst Geode wedding cake is not just a cake — it’s a work of art.
It’s the work of master baker Rachael Teufel, of Intricate Icings.
“The crystalized cake took 16 hours to make, but countless hours were spent planning its intricate design,” Rachael wrote on the Intricate Icings blog.
“I was given several pieces of inspiration to draw ideas from, including actual geodes, a beautiful illustration, and a variety of table decor items like plates, chargers, and geometric floral arrangements.”
“I knew I wanted to create a show stopping cake and use the geode as the focal point creating an awe-inspiring visual experience for the guests.”
“The geode is made from rock candy that I then crafted with modeling chocolate, hand painting, and gold leaf,” Rachael explained on Facebook.
Rachael is currently working on a tutorial to allow everyone to make their very own amethyst wedding cake, but in the meantime, whet your appetite with more awesome cakes at her website, Facebook and Instagram.
