Rashida Jones says ‘every single’ member of Parks and Rec cast would be up for a reboot

Fans of “Parks and Recreation,” rejoice! A beloved star from the show has revealed that the entire cast is eager for a reboot. The comedy series has continued to soar in popularity, seeing a significant upswing in viewership years after its original run. Although it started with modest ratings, the viewership peaked at over 4 million live viewers by the series finale.

With “The Office” recently rebooted featuring Domhnall Gleeson, rumors and hopes for a “Parks and Rec” revival have gained momentum.

Rashida Jones shared some promising news about the possibility of bringing back the beloved series. “Oh, anytime, any day. I mean, we all are still friends, we text. I talk to Amy [Poehler] every day. If there’s a reason and somebody says, ‘Let’s do it’, I think every single one of us would say yes,” Jones enthusiastically stated.

Rashida Jones and Amy Poehler not only co-starred in the show but also formed a significant off-screen friendship. (NBC) When probed about whether discussions for a reboot have happened, Jones revealed, “I mean, yes. We’re all like, ‘Come on, let’s go’. But you know, the writers gotta get it going. I think we have to have a reason. We have to feel like there’s a good reason to do it, not just to do it.”

The cast previously reunited for “A Parks and Recreation Special” in 2020, which was a fundraiser for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund. This special connected the characters via a Zoom call, with Leslie Knope working hard to keep everyone in touch during the pandemic. The episode was a success, raising over $2.8 million for the cause. The special brought back nearly all the main cast members, including Hollywood star Chris Pratt.

Despite the enthusiasm from some, cast member Adam Scott has shown a bit more reservation, though he hasn’t dismissed the idea entirely. “If they (the show’s creators) would ever be interested in doing something like that, it would be up to them. But I mean, I would go get a sandwich with all of those people. I wouldn’t have to be shooting the show. I just love all of ‘em so much. The show itself sort of had a real ending. We did do something over the pandemic where we all got back together and made an episode. I don’t know if there would ever be any more, but I mean, I really don’t know. I love the show and love all the people. It’s always fun seeing any of them,” Scott explained.

The cast of the show has gone on to achieve individual stardom. Meanwhile, “Sunny” is set to premiere globally with its first two episodes on Wednesday, July 10, with new episodes slated to release every Wednesday until September 4, 2024.
