This Fearless One-Eyed Cat Loves To Go Surfing With His Humans In Hawaii

To find a cat that doesn’t run hissing and spitting from water is one thing, but one-eyed cat Kuli is taking things to a whole new level. This adventurous kitten’s favorite hobby? Surfing.

Kuli was adopted by Alexandra Gomez and Krista Littleton after being found severely malnourished on the streets of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Having his injured eye washed and bathed regularly as a kitten is one of the reasons Alexandra and Krista think Kuli is happier around water than most other cats.

Now, Kuli, whose name means “to look blind”, regularly hits the waves with his humans and he even has his own board and life jacket.

“His first time in water, we just let him float on the board by himself near the shore. Before we knew it, we were looking for waves to surf,” said Alexandra.

“We bought a board that Kuli would be able to get out on the surf with. Before he could swim confidently on his own, Kuli always wore a lifejacket.”

“He still wears it from time to time depending on the conditions, but we are careful not to take him out if it’s too windy or the water is too rough.”

Kuli has been surfing in the Hawaiian sun since he was just 6 months old and is purrfectly happy swimming in the sea.
