Swedish Couple Encase Their Home In A Giant Greenhouse To Keep Warm

When it’s cold outside you might put on a jumper and some cozy socks, but these homeowners decided to simply encase their entire home in a greenhouse.

Charles Saciloto and Marie Granmar bought this dwelling (minus the greenhouse) in Stockholm, Sweden.

They added the greenhouse, made of 4mm-thick security glass, themselves to keep their house toasty and also create a vegetable garden and roof terrace.

The couple say, “It can be -2°C outside and it can be 15 to 20°C upstairs.” Toasty.

The greenhouse also provides solar power for their home, but Marie says they still use indoor heaters, as the climatization isn’t perfect all year round.

It’s certainly a unique house (although not the first of its kind) and offers the couple a unique relationship to their environment.

We’ll probably stock up on hot water bottles instead.
