Thieves ‘storm family home and assault children’ as parents watch through doorbell camera

It was a parent’s worst nightmare come to life for Angelo Rodriguez and his wife as they watched their home being invaded by thieves through their doorbell camera. The distressing event unfolded while the couple was out for the evening and their children were at home under the care of a babysitter. It all started on the night of June 12 when a man, disguised as a delivery driver and clad in a hi-vis jacket, approached their Colorado residence.

Holding what seemed to be a package, the imposter knocked on the door. As soon as the babysitter opened it, he forced his way inside, followed by two other assailants who were armed. Angelo Rodriguez, witnessing this through his camera, immediately called 911.

The thieves not only stole jewelry and cash but also assaulted Rodriguez’s children during the horrific incident. Reports from MailOnline suggest that his six-year-old son was pushed to the ground and his teenage daughter was inappropriately touched. Both children sustained minor injuries and were subsequently hospitalized.

The Aurora Police Department (APD) suspects that this was a targeted attack, considering the Rodriguez family runs a business from their home.

The aftermath of the raid left the Rodriguez family deeply traumatized. “My wife doesn’t want to come out, doesn’t want to eat,” Angelo told Denver7. “My daughter won’t come out of her room.” In response to this incident, APD issued a stark warning about the dangers of opening the door to supposed delivery personnel.

“They were dressed in construction vests and claimed they were there to drop a package off. The suspects were holding a package and waited for the residents of the home to open the door. When they did, the suspects forced their way in and robbed the family,” APD posted on social media.

The police also reminded residents that typical package deliveries don’t usually require a direct hand-off or a signature, and that authentic delivery personnel will wear a branded uniform. They suggested alternatives such as using a P.O. box or selecting a ‘Hold for Pickup’ option to reduce the risk of such incidents.
