8 Reasons Why You Should Sleep Naked

I think we all know how important sleep is. It’s so crucial to our health and well-being that we should do everything in our power to maximize the benefits of a good night’s rest, and I’m going to outline eight reasons why you should try sleeping naked and get on board with this whole skin-baring sleeping thing already.

1. You’ll sleep better

Your body temperature has a big impact on the quality of your sleep. If you’re too hot, you’ll find it difficult to fall asleep faster and you likely wont achieve deep sleep. Sleeping nude can help lower your body temperature, resulting in faster and higher quality sleep.

2. You’ll have improved mood and lower stress

There is a very strong, well established link between quality of sleep and overall mood. So having a lower body temperature while you sleep helps you sleep better, which in turn improves your mood and reduces stress.

3. You’ll be cooler in the Summer

On the other hand, if you’re someone who sleeps hot and has always had to wear some sort of pajamas or long johns just so that you don’t wake up drenched in sweat, sleeping naked might be your best bet. Why? Well, as we all know, our bodies release excess heat while we’re sleeping. So if you’re wearing something to bed, your body will take that excess heat and build it up in the fabric of whatever you have on. Basically, those PJs or long johns are going to do a good job of trapping some extra body heat with you all night long which will cause you to get even hotter throughout the night. Sleeping naked, however, will keep your body from taking that excess heat and trapping it against you. Instead, it will have a chance to release the extra heat away from you which, as a result, will help you stay cooler throughout the night.

4. You’ll have a stronger relationship with your partner

Okay, so this reason ties into the first one a little bit because obviously if you and your partner both sleep naked then you’ll be feeling more connected to them and less lonely. But having a stronger connection with your partner can also help improve communication which, in turn, leads to better intimacy and sleeping arrangements — like switching from separate beds to a shared bed for example. Sleeping naked together is not only great for your relationship, but it’s also really good for keeping the romance alive between you two.

5. You’ll get better skin

Many of us don’t like to admit it, but we all sweat during the night. We may not notice it or even wake up from it, but we sweat and our sweaty skin is something we can prevent if we sleep naked because there’s nothing trapping that sweat against our body except for the sheets. I mean come on, think about it. When we sleep in our clothes, we’re actually preventing our body from having a chance to breathe and perspire freely. Which, of course, can lead to acne and all sorts of other skin issues that we tend to think only happen when we’re awake.

6. You’ll be more attractive

I’m not going to even beat around the bush here because, let’s be real girls, there is nothing that says sexy like a bare naked body. Letting your natural skin shine through just makes you feel more comfortable and confident which in turn can lead to better sex with your partner. Of course, this also ties into the first reason on the list because when you’re feeling confident and sexy, you’ll be more willing to cuddle up naked with your partner.

7. You’ll age slower

As we get older, our skin loses its elasticity and becomes all wrinkly. Wrinkles tend to form in areas where there’s an excess of sweat glands like the hands, elbows, knees, armpits, etc. As we sleep naked however, these excess sweat glands can basically breathe and function freely which will help keep them healthier longer and thereby help prevent wrinkles from forming.

8. You’ll feel cleaner

Last but certainly not least, sleeping naked will make you feel more clean and refreshed, while making life easier by having fewer clothes to wash. There’s nothing quite like that cool breeze of air that surrounds your entire body as you drift off to sleep every night. It’s a great feeling and one that I genuinely miss when I’m wearing my PJs. And you will also have fewer clothes to wash each week as you won’t be wearing anything to bed!
