An 87-year-old self-proclaimed ‘super cougar’ reveals why she prefers dating much younger men, proving that for some, age really is just a number. Meet Hattie Retroage, who isn’t shy about her preference for youthful companions.
Hattie’s zest for life and love doesn’t stop at traditional methods of meeting people. She’s fully embraced modern technology to find her dates.
In a revealing 2019 interview on Love Don’t Judge, Hattie described herself in her Tinder bio as a ‘fascinating older beauty’ and boasted about having a ‘steady selection of young men’ to date.
When quizzed about her dating choices, Hattie explained that older men often worry too much about aging, which she finds completely logical.
“I’m worried about ageing, everyone’s worried about ageing. But a younger guy is not thinking about ageing,” she says.
According to Hattie, her younger suitors aren’t as concerned about proving their prowess, and they actually enjoy the experience of satisfying a woman, a stark contrast to the attitudes she encountered in her youth.
Many of her peers, she notes, simply ‘aren’t around anymore,’ which certainly shapes the dating pool.
Additionally, Hattie appreciates that younger men are often actively pursuing their ambitions.
Her adventurous foray into dating younger men has taken her on quite the journey.
She once met a younger man from Ecuador, significantly younger than she had expected, leading to an unexpected turn of events back at her apartment.
“I didn’t know he was 19. I probably wouldn’t have gone to bed with him if I knew he was 19,” she confessed after their encounter.
In a candid chat with SBS Dateline, Hattie spoke about being both ‘cursed and blessed’ with a robust libido, which she describes as making her feel vibrantly alive. “Because it’s life darling,” she adds.
Prior to her adventures as a cougar, Hattie was married and has children, but her marriage ended after her kids went to college. Her husband remarried, and she took a bold step by placing a personal ad in the newspaper to jump-start her dating life.
Hattie’s approach to dating involves ‘auditioning’ potential partners over the phone before meeting up, a method that seems to work well for her.
Although her daughter, Rama, is generally supportive, she admits that her mom’s escapade ending up in a college dorm was a bit over the top. “I think that was pushing the limit,” she remarked.
