A fully grown Rottweiler has had puppies after mating with a West Highland terrier, which have been adoringly refered to as ‘Wotties’.
Teresa Patterson from Yorkshire, UK, who owns both dogs, was left stunned when she found out they had mated and said she was unaware it had taken place until the puppies were born.
I was completely shocked, I didn’t think nature would let this happen but at some point it did. The puppies have a lovely temperament like their parents. They are high maintenance as they want attention all the time. One of the puppies, Sparkie, which our son is having, follows me everywhere I go. But this won’t happen again – Joey will be going to the vets soon.
The Kennel Club, which is the UK’s largest organisation dedicated to protecting and promoting the health and welfare of all dogs, told the Daily Mail that they had since never come across a ‘Wottie’ cross-breed in all the 250,000 puppies that they register each year.
A spokesman said: “We can never say it has never happened but this is the first time we’ve come across it.”
I guess size doesn’t matter after all!
