This Gorgeous Photography Project Is Challenging Women To See Their Bodies Differently

A photographer is changing the way the world sees female bodies in her latest book, which showcases the beautiful, real bodies of women from around the world.

“Instead of focusing on what women need to do to ‘improve’ their bodies, I want to prove that we are beautiful the way we are,” said photographer Emily Lauren from Ontario, Canada.

Mom-of-one Emily is publishing her photos in a book that is being funded through Kickstarter.

“This book is a must-have for any girl who feels their body doesn’t quite fit into society’s standards,” she said.

Emily, who studied Women’s Studies and Sociology at Wilfrid Laurier University, also hopes to educate women about how the beauty and fashion industries profit from their poor body image.

“I’ve complete a beautiful manuscript that focuses on how we learn about body image, how the media profits off of our body dissatisfaction, and the issues that result.”

“The fact is that we need young girls to learn about how their body image is linked to things like eating disorders, bullying, and sexual harassment so they can protect themselves and build up their self-esteem.”

“This book will be more than just a photography book. It’s a guide, a voice, and a creative tool that teaches confidence and self-acceptance.”
