A renowned New York City restaurant has “86’d” James Corden.
Keith McNally, 71, the owner of NYC’s Balthazar, criticized Corden, 44, for his inappropriate behavior in his restaurant on Monday.
“James Corden is a Hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man,” he wrote alongside a photo of a smiling Corden. “And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.”
McNally added, “I don’t often 86 a customer, to today I 86’d Corden. It did not make me laugh.”
Corden’s agent did not immediately reply to requests for comment.
He went on to describe Corden’s “funny man’s attitude of my workers” the two times he visited his restaurant, and said Corden exhibited similar conduct at McNally’s former eatery, Cafe Luxembourg.
According to McNally, the first incident occurred in June, when Corden was seated at table 61 and discovered a hair in his lunch.
“Although this is diabolical, it happens Very occasionally in all restaurants,” McNally wrote.
He claimed that when Corden finished his main meal, he “showed the hair to Balthazar manager G. who was quite remorseful. Corden was really hostile to G and said:’Get us another round of drinks this second. And also take care of all of our drinks so far. This way I write any nasty reviews in yelp or anything like that.’ “
The second incident allegedly occurred on Oct. 9, while Corden was eating brunch with his wife, according to McNally. Corden requested to be seated outside, and a waiter sent them to table 301. Corden’s wife wanted an omelette with egg yolks, gruyere cheese, and salad.
“A few minutes after they received the food, James called their server, M. K. and told her there was a little bit of egg white mixed with the egg yolk,” McNally wrote. “M. K. informed the floor manager, G. The kitchen remade the dish but unfortunately sent it with home fries instead of salad.”
McNally alleged, “That’s when James Corden began yelling like crazy to the server: “You can’t do your job! You can’t do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself! “
He stated that the server was “extremely sorry and brought G. come over to the table Everything was OK once he returned the food. To smooth things out, he offered them promotional Champagne glasses. G. M.K. stated that Corden was kind to him but unpleasant to the server. ‘She was shaken, but being the professional that she is, she finished her shift.’
McNally said that while he was “reluctant” to write about Corden, he “did so out of devotion to restaurant workers globally.”
He added, “Their jobs are hard enough already. They shouldn’t have to take this kind of abuse from anyone, especially the rich and famous.”
As of this writing, the restaurant owner had said that James Corden has apologized and that he will “immediately lift” the TV host’s ban from the establishment.
