Brad Pitt ‘aware and upset’ daughter Shiloh has filed to legally drop his last name

Brad Pitt is reportedly knowledgeable about his daughter’s desire to legally change her surname. Pitt, a renowned actor, shares six children with his former spouse, Angelina Jolie. The couple’s relationship spanned 12 years, including a two-year marriage.

The duo, famously known from the movie “Mr & Mrs Smith,” met during the film’s production in 2004, at a time when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Together, Pitt and Jolie have three biological children: Shiloh, aged 18, and 15-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne. Additionally, they have three adopted children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Zahara, 19.

Following Pitt’s divorce from Jolie, reports suggest that he has become somewhat estranged from his children. This estrangement has reportedly led Shiloh to seek a removal of “Pitt” from her last name, preferring instead to be known simply as Shiloh Jolie. According to TMZ, she filed for this name change on her 18th birthday, May 27.

Recent updates indicate that Pitt, 60, is cognizant of Shiloh’s legal action to change her name.

“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter,” a source disclosed to PEOPLE. “The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”

Despite these familial challenges, sources affirm that Pitt is still content in his personal life, particularly with his girlfriend, Ines De Ramon. Pitt and De Ramon have been linked together since late 2022. De Ramon was previously married to “Vampire Diaries” actor Paul Wesley; the couple separated in September 2022 and Wesley filed for divorce in February 2023.

According to insiders, Pitt “still loves all of his kids tremendously” and finds the whole situation “very hard for the whole family.”

UNILAD has sought comments from Pitt’s representatives regarding these developments.

In a related note, Vivienne, Pitt and Jolie’s daughter, also appears to have removed Pitt from her name. She was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill while helping her mother produce the new musical, “The Outsiders,” as reported by PEOPLE.

It remains uncertain whether Vivienne has legally requested a name change akin to Shiloh’s.

Moreover, Zahara, the oldest daughter, introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie” in a video posted by Essence last November, hinting at a similar distancing from the Pitt surname. It is yet to be confirmed if any other children of Pitt and Jolie intend to follow in these footsteps.
