Billy Ray Cyrus requests temporary restraining order against wife Firerose after filing for divorce

Billy Ray Cyrus has recently taken legal steps to obtain a temporary restraining order, mere weeks following his divorce filing from Firerose, in what he claims is an effort to protect his financial assets. The country singer initiated the divorce proceedings on May 22 in a Tennessee court against Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges, citing ‘inappropriate marital conduct’. Subsequent to filing for divorce, Cyrus has raised concerns over what he alleges are ‘unauthorized’ transactions made by Firerose using his credit card.

The marriage, which lasted approximately seven months, ended with Cyrus declaring irreconcilable differences alongside the aforementioned ‘inappropriate marital conduct’. TMZ first broke the story, revealing that Cyrus also pushed for an immediate annulment on the basis of ‘fraud’, and demanded that Firerose vacate their shared residence by May 24.

According to the legal documents, Cyrus agreed to provide $5,000 monthly for 90 days—or until the divorce is finalized—to support Firerose’s living expenses. He has since filed for a temporary restraining order to prevent any further unauthorized use of his personal and professional bank cards and accounts, after alleging instances of ‘fraudulent’ activity.

Documents obtained by PEOPLE magazine detail that since the day after Cyrus filed for divorce, Firerose has allegedly made 37 unauthorized charges totaling an astounding $96,986, including a substantial $70,665 payment to her attorneys.

Cyrus expressed his concerns in an affidavit: “As a result of these fraudulent charges… I am concerned that Ms. Hodges is in possession of other information that she may use to make fraudulent, unauthorized charges to my business and personal credit cards and accounts.”

Firerose has countered these allegations through her attorney, who argues that she had full authorization to use the cards, noting that the expenditures were routinely reviewed by the couple.

“Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the makeup of their marriage,” her attorneys stated in a filing. “Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off.”

Moreover, Cyrus has highlighted that Firerose possesses substantial financial resources, including over half a million in liquid and investment assets, as well as owning real estate in Los Angeles valued in the seven figures. He is requesting that she reimburse or return any purchases made with the alleged unauthorized charges.
