A private investigator, Paul Barresi, who was reportedly employed during the defamation trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, has disclosed details from his investigative work in a self-published book. Barresi asserts that he was contracted by Amber Heard’s legal team to uncover incriminating evidence against Johnny Depp amidst the heavily publicized court proceedings.
The lawsuit originated from an op-ed by Heard in the Washington Post, where she claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse, leading to a defamation claim by Depp as he was implied in the allegations. The explosive trial concluded with the jury ruling in favor of both Depp and Heard, awarding Depp $10.35 million and Heard $2 million in damages. By the end of 2022, all legal disputes related to the trial were reportedly resolved.
Barresi, in his book, shares that despite his efforts to find damaging material, the feedback he received described Depp as a “gentleman’s gentleman” and highlighted his respectful demeanor towards women. Although hired by Heard’s team in 2019, Barresi did not specify which of Depp’s defamation trials he was involved with. Following the trial, Depp expressed his relief on Instagram, emphasizing that speaking his truth was vital for his peace of mind and for those supporting him. On the other hand, Heard voiced her profound disappointment on the platform, lamenting that her substantial evidence was overshadowed by Depp’s influential stature.
Barresi’s narrative aims to cast a light on the personal characteristics of Depp, focusing on understanding and compassion. “Through this journey, I aimed to honour our shared humanity, shedding light on the man behind the myths and offering a narrative grounded in genuine understanding and compassion,” he wrote
