The Oklahoma Office of Chief Medical Examiner has disclosed the cause of death for the adult film actress known as Jesse Jane. Born Cynthia Ann Howell, the 43-year-old was found deceased in a residence in Moore, Oklahoma on January 24, alongside Brett Hasenmueller. Authorities were summoned that morning to check on the welfare of the star and her boyfriend.
Initially, it was speculated that the couple might have succumbed to a drug overdose. The Medical Examiner’s office promptly initiated a thorough investigation into their deaths. The findings of this probe have recently been made public.
The preliminary page of the medical examiner’s report about Jesse Jane’s death was released on Sunday (July 7), with the full document slated for release on July 17. According to reports, decomposition was noted on Jane’s body, and her death was attributed to an overdose of cocaine and fentanyl, officially ruled as accidental.
The news has sparked a renewed outpouring of tributes for the star on social media. Jane, a prominent figure in adult film during the early 2000s, left a lasting impact on fans and colleagues alike.
One Twitter user remarked, “Sad stuff.” Another expressed disbelief: “I just opened the app and all I got are three posts of Jesse Jane’s death. I don’t want to believe it but sadly there is nothing we can do. Thank you Jesse for your services you may have rest now.” A third lamented the broader opioid crisis, noting, “Fentanyl is taking all the greats.”
Among those mourning her passing was Joone, the director of the 2005 R-rated film “Pirates,” in which Jane starred. He shared, “I am heartbroken by the loss of my friend, Jesse Jane, who was a remarkable person and a phenomenal artist. She touched so many lives with her grace and beauty, her infectious laugh and a smile that lit up the world. I’m honoured to have known her and to have been her friend.”
Sam Phillips, a photo editor at Penthouse magazine, also expressed his devastation: “I am in shock after reading former adult star Jesse Jane is dead from an apparent drug overdose. Jesse was the sweetest and kindest human on this planet. I hired her for her very first movie role, a mainstream one called, Busty Cops, before she did adult films. I am Devastated.”
