50 Cent discloses his commitment to ‘practicing abstinence’ and shares his reasons

50 Cent has recently shared in a TV interview that he is now dedicated to ‘practicing abstinence’.

Think back to January when New Year’s resolutions were being made; you might recall 50 Cent announcing his intention to abstain from sex throughout 2024.

The artist, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, posted three images on Instagram at the start of the year. In the photos, he is seen wearing a suit, complete with a shirt, tie, and cigar.

The caption of the post read: “My new idea is so big, I don’t have time to be distracted I’m practicing abstinence, I have been meditating and focusing on my goals.

“I hope this New Year helps you excel to the next level. @bransoncognac @lecheminduroi.”

Many were puzzled about what he meant by ‘practicing abstinence,’ especially since Jackson was seen drinking alcohol in the pictures.

To clarify, Healthline explains that ‘in its simplest form, abstinence is the decision not to have sexual intercourse’.

Updating on that commitment, Jackson told The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that he is resolute in continuing his practice of abstinence.

During the show, Colbert showcased 50’s cover of Us Weekly magazine, which questioned if 50 Cent is ‘really celibate’.

“I like this and I’ve got a follow-up question. 50 Cent, are you really celibate?” the host inquired.

The rapper replied immediately: “Listen, when you calm down, you can focus. It’s been good. I’ve been good to me.”

Colbert humorously responded: “Ok. But, what’s the money for if you’re celibate? You know there are a couple of motivating factors in our evolutionary biology and they don’t include celibacy!”

The conversation went on, with Jackson explaining that this is when things become ‘complicated’.

He further elaborated: “Things start getting confusing because people are coming for different reasons. And then if you, like, go on a date but you have no interest in anything… I can see you now. It’s like, ‘Goddamn, girl. You’re fine, but you ain’t got nothing going on.'”

Although the rapper often sings about being ‘into having sex’ in his music, he is steering clear of such activities this year, at least.

At the beginning of the year, many doubted whether 50 Cent could adhere to his pledge, with one person writing: “Wow, let’s see how it goes.”

So far, the rapper has proven them wrong.
