Fans Shocked as Orlando Bloom Discloses Katy Perry’s True Name in VMAs Speech

During last night’s VMAs, Orlando Bloom introduced his fiancée Katy Perry, leaving fans surprised to learn her real name.

The ‘I Kissed a Girl’ singer and the Pirates of the Caribbean actor have built one of Hollywood’s most resilient relationships. Since they started dating eight years ago, they’ve welcomed a daughter and gotten engaged.

At the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on September 11, the couple demonstrated their enduring affection for each other.

Bloom had the honor of presenting Perry with the MTV Video Vanguard Award, essentially a lifetime achievement award.

In a heartfelt speech, he expressed: “You fell in love with her as Katy Perry,” before revealing her real name: “I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson.”

“You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light, and her unique sense of humor to every song she writes and music video she creates. I know her as a mother, as a partner who brings that same love and joy to our family.”

He continued: “In moments when we’ve most needed it, her music and the remarkable world she creates have brought a sense of joy and laughter, inspiring generations of people from all over the world.”

“She loves with her whole heart and is kind of irresistible. I see her reflected everywhere in our home, in her love for her work, but especially in her love for her fans.”

“Congratulations on this honor, baby. I’m so proud of you. 143. Ladies and gentlemen, the 2024 MTV Video Vanguard Katheryn Hudson. Katy Perry!”

Twitter erupted with reactions, with one user writing: “Orlando you’re making me cry.”

Another commented: “Orlando Bloom calling her ‘Katheryn Hudson’ is CRAZY.”

Bloom also mentioned her seventh upcoming album 143, set to be released next Friday (September 20).

The number 143 holds special significance for Perry, as she has previously called it her angel number. Angel numbers range from 0 to 999 and are believed to carry spiritual meaning and energy.

Accepting her award, Perry embraced and kissed her fiancé before performing a medley of her songs.

Taking the mic afterward, she remarked: “I did that all too on the first day of my period too, can you believe it. Thank you so much MTV for believing in my weirdness from day one and for helping artists extend their worlds beyond a song.”

She added: “There are so many things that have to align to have a long and successful career as an artist.”

Perry concluded: “There are no decade-long accidents.”

This follows Perry’s humorous response to Bloom allegedly ‘checking out’ Kim Kardashian at a recent charity event. When asked about it, the ‘Firework’ singer simply said: “I approve.”

Fair play, Katy.
