Tesla owner reveals annual electricity bill, leaving many shocked by the cost

With the urgent need to mitigate the effects of global warming, many believe that electric vehicles (EVs) are a promising solution.

Despite this, electric cars have not yet become as widespread as manufacturers hope, with only 0.86 percent of registered vehicles in the United States being electric.

One reason for this limited adoption is their relatively high cost, coupled with challenges in maintenance.

Moreover, owning an electric vehicle can significantly affect one’s household electricity expenses.

New owners of EVs often brace themselves for a notable increase in their electric bill, a concern that is quite prevalent.

However, one Tesla owner surprised many on Twitter with an unexpectedly low electricity bill after purchasing a car from Elon Musk’s company.

The user @Tesla_GTownTX shared a screenshot of their electricity bill from Tesla, with the total coming to just $2.37.

Although this might seem incredibly low, the user noted that it was actually higher than usual, stating: “First time I’ve had a bill within the last 12 months. This sucks.”

This revelation sparked curiosity among both current and prospective EV owners about how the user managed to keep electricity costs so low while charging their vehicle.

“I call bs [bulls**t],” commented one skeptical observer.

Another quipped: “Man my sympathies to you in this horrible time.”

The secret to the user’s minimal electricity bill lies in strategic planning and a significant investment to circumvent hefty monthly utility payments.

The Tesla owner uses solar panels to keep their electric bill low, employing a Tesla Powerwall to recharge the vehicle with solar energy.

While the home battery system might save substantial amounts monthly, it’s debatable whether the upfront cost of a Tesla Powerwall is justified by the reduced electricity bills.

As reported by Forbes, Tesla Powerwalls can cost over $11,000 per battery. The more you have, the greater the potential savings on electricity.

Thus, while the Tesla owner enjoys a remarkably low bill, it came at a considerable initial expense.
