Besides their fame as musicians, Olivia Rodrigo and Grimes share a similar viewpoint: they both harbor a dislike for men who are overly enthusiastic about space travel.
In a Q&A session with Netflix, Olivia Rodrigo, famous for “Driver’s License,” displayed her favorite tank tops from her Guts tour. Among them was a shirt with ‘dump him’ printed on it.
The shirt, while a nod to Britney Spears, also led Rodrigo to reveal her “biggest red flag” in dating, which was very specific.
“This is a very oddly specific question that I ask guys on first dates,” the singer said. “I always ask them if they think that they would want to go to space.”
@netflix see ya nvr space men 👋 olivia rodrigo: guts world tour is now playing 💟
“And if they say yes, I don’t date them,” she added. “I just think if you wanna go to space, you’re a little too full of yourself. I think it’s just weird.”
This brings us to Grimes, who has personal experience with men keen on space travel.
“It’s true,” Grimes commented on Twitter under a clip of Rodrigo’s interview. “Only women should be going to space.”
Fans quickly noted that Grimes’ comment seemed to be a subtle jab at her ex-partner, tech giant and space enthusiast, Elon Musk.
The couple was rumored to have started dating in 2018 and they have three children together. Musk, the founder of SpaceX, has been open about his ambitions for space exploration, including a mission to Mars.
“I guess she’d know having personal experience with that type of man,” a Twitter user remarked in response to Grimes’ agreement with Rodrigo.
“Neil Armstrong would have zero rizz in 2024,” another user humorously commented.
“The ancient texts foretold this: boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider,” another person noted, adding a touch of humor to the conversation.
Who would have thought that wanting to explore space would become a dating dealbreaker?
