Potential Candidates for President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet

Donald Trump is set to become the 47th President of the United States after defeating Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, prompting discussions about who will join his cabinet as he returns to the White House.

As he gears up to assume office in January, Trump’s team is working on assembling a cabinet to help govern the nation.

The former president declared victory before securing the necessary 270 electoral votes on Wednesday, November 6th.

Trump claimed he had ‘made history’ after being projected to win the key battleground states of North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.

“Every single day I will be fighting for you, with every single breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that children deserve,” he stated.

“And that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age for America.”

In preparation for the election victory, the New York Post reported that Trump had organized a ‘transition’ team, designed to facilitate a seamless transition for the president-elect before the inauguration day.

The publication indicates that individuals close to Trump are optimistic about numerous Republican Senate wins, which would simplify Trump’s return to power.

Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, is part of Trump’s transition team, along with Linda McMahon, who was involved in Trump’s first administration.

Eric and Donald Jr., Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Vice President-elect JD Vance are also anticipated to be part of this team.

As for Trump’s future cabinet, it is expected that Trump will personally select its members – but who might be included?

The New York Post mentions Susie Wiles as a top contender for the position of chief of staff, having served as Trump’s campaign co-chair.

“She makes him feel comfortable,” a source close to Trump told CNN about Wiles.

The selection of a chief of staff is crucial for the 47th president, as he went through four during his initial term.

Among them was John Kelly, who remarked during the election campaign that Trump fits ‘into the general definition of fascist’.

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Brooke Rollins, a former White House domestic policy adviser, are also considered potential candidates.

An essential government position, the attorney general, is one Trump needs to appoint wisely.

Matthew Whitaker, who served as an acting attorney general under Trump, is reportedly one of the names being considered.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry and Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt are also potential candidates, according to the New York Post.

Security remains a priority for any president-elect, so Trump will need a reliable team to support him.

Regarding security positions, former national security adviser Robert O’Brien and Richard Grenell, former acting Director of National Intelligence, are in line for roles.

Sky News reports that Marco Rubio, who once aimed to be the Republican presidential nominee, is a candidate for secretary of state.

Rubio, whose policies align closely with Trump’s, was considered as a running mate before JD Vance was chosen for the role.

Elon Musk played a significant role during Trump’s campaign, leading to speculation that the Twitter owner might receive an advisory position in Trump’s cabinet.

Meanwhile, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. might be offered a similar role.

Trump is assembling his cabinet in preparation for taking office in January 2025.
