Australian high diver Rhiannan Iffland took a bold step by attempting a waterslide at Austria’s Area 47 adventure park, despite a sign that advised against its use by women.
The sign depicted an individual with arms and legs crossed to indicate the recommended position for sliding. Additionally, it stated, “Due to high risk of injury, women are not allowed to use this slide.”
Undeterred, Iffland proceeded down the slide. Although she reportedly did not suffer any injuries, she wasn’t eager to repeat the experience.
The reason behind the restriction was not immediately evident from the sign, but comments on Iffland’s video provided clarity. Many individuals shared personal experiences of encountering a “waterslide enema.” An enema involves liquid entering the body to relieve constipation, so these comments painted a vivid picture of their experiences.
One TikTok user commented on Iffland’s video, saying, “Unfortunately I got a water slide enema. Peed out half the swimming pool in the toilet from my butt. I literally couldn’t stand upright after it happened. Weirdest thing I’ve ever experienced.”
While men can also face similar experiences, women noted the added challenge of having multiple entry points for water. One woman described, “I have gone to one of those. […] Not an enema but the other one. Deep cleaning that baby box. Never again.”
Another added, “Goes into places it really shouldn’t then gushes out when you stand up not fun.”
A third person shared, “| went on a slide like this, water straight up both holes.”
In addition to the potential enema-like effects, extreme waterslides may also pose other risks, particularly to women. A 1998 study published in the National Library of Medicine indicated that high-pressure water could cause severe vaginal injuries to women.
Such injuries could increase the risk of infections due to foreign substances in the water, highlighting the importance of adhering to safety instructions like crossing one’s legs.
Despite Iffland’s unscathed adventure, it’s wise not to disregard warning signs like these.
