Several employees at Walmart have dismissed the notion that a coworker might have ‘locked herself’ in one of the store’s ovens and subsequently ‘burned to death’.
Gursimran Kaur, originally from India, was discovered in a walk-in oven at a Walmart location in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on October 19.
Kaur’s discovery was allegedly made by her mother, who is also employed at the same Walmart store.
Concerned about her daughter’s absence, Kaur’s mother went looking for her after not seeing or hearing from her for a period of time. Her remains were reportedly found in the oven, according to a GoFundMe page.
After this tragic occurrence, some Walmart staff members have been trying to comprehend how Kaur could have ended up in the equipment.
In a TikTok video, a user named @chrisbreezie559 argued there would be ‘no way’ for someone to lock themselves in one of these ovens.
“I don’t even know if I would fit in here,” Breezie remarked. “I’m 5ft 1, medium built. I would have to crouch down to get in.”
In another video, Breezie explained: “All Walmart ovens are built basically the same. They cannot be locked from the inside. You have to lock them from the outside, apply a lot of pressure and pull handles to lock them in place.”
Another user, @mary.w1nchester, demonstrated her Walmart’s oven, showing that the machine at her store features a release handle from the inside.
She also pointed out that the door does not close automatically and requires a push until it clicks.
Mary went inside the oven and then opened it from the inside to prove her point.

It is crucial to understand that Walmart has various oven models, and it is not immediately evident which type was involved in this unfortunate incident.
The Halifax Regional Police have stated that the investigation into Kaur’s death is still in progress.
On October 22, a statement was released, emphasizing: “Halifax Regional Police continue to investigate the sudden death of a 19-year-old woman found at Walmart at 6990 Mumford Road on October 19.
“The woman, who was an employee of the store, was located in a large walk-in oven belonging to the store’s bakery department.
“It is important to note that the investigation has not yet reached a point where the cause and manner of death have been confirmed.
“The investigation is complex and involves several partner agencies. An investigation of this nature may take a significant amount of time.
“We urge the public to be mindful of sharing speculative information on social media. Please be aware of the impacts that speculation could have on family, colleagues and loved ones of the woman.”
Last month, a Walmart spokesperson informed Newsweek: “We are heartbroken and our deepest thoughts are with our associate and their family. Our focus remains on taking care of our associates and making sure they have the support they need. As police have stated, this is a very complex matter and the investigation is ongoing.”
