Benny Blanco reveals surprising hygiene habits after contentious Sexiest Man Alive nod

Benny Blanco is challenging traditional notions of masculinity and, apparently, hygiene in ways that have helped him capture the interest of Selena Gomez, though not all fans are thrilled by his approach.

For those unfamiliar with the 36-year-old, he is a well-known record producer and songwriter. Just a year into his relationship with the former Wizards of Waverly Place star, he was recognized alongside some of the most handsome men globally.

Indeed, People magazine nominated Blanco, whose real name is Benjamin Joseph Levin, for its ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ list. Although he didn’t win, the nomination has certainly boosted his fame.

John Krasinski, best known for his role as ‘Jim’ in the US version of The Office, was crowned ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ – a choice many found deserving, though opinions varied.

Blanco, however, was in the mix and shared insights into how a down-to-earth guy like himself mingles with some of the industry’s most striking men, including Glen Powell, Brad Pitt, and Hugh Jackman.

In a discussion with People, he revealed how he won over Selena Gomez.

“Tell her [your partner] how pretty she is. Chivalry’s not dead,” he shared.

He then offered advice on appearing more attractive to one’s partner.

Some of his tips included learning to cook, dressing with confidence, and ensuring that first dates are about shared experiences – ‘try to create a moment in time’, he suggested.

He further elaborated on other ways to impress a partner, such as being hospitable to everyone and treating one’s mom well—showcasing his sincere character.

What truly caught readers off guard was his candid admission about wanting to have a noticeable scent when passing by others.

He said: “I do a thing where I also don’t believe in always shampooing your hair, or conditioning your hair. I’m really clean but I don’t shower everyday.

“But some people I know shower two, three times a day, but I feel like the oils on your skin don’t have time to rejuvenate and get juicy.

“I want there to be an aroma as I’m walking by. I want it to smell a little bit like man, a little bit feminine. I definitely lean, I think, a little more feminine in every sense.”

Naturally, Twitter users reacted with surprise and urged his 32-year-old girlfriend to reconsider the relationship.

“Run Selena while you can!” one person commented.

Another posted: “‘Want there to be an aroma as I’m walking by’ YOU MEAN THE STENCH?”

While a third chimed in: “Oh selena girl he stink don’t he? LMFAOOOO.”

Yet, some people supported Blanco.

One individual tweeted: “Honestly, the ‘juicy oils’ comment has me dead but I get it, everyone has their own vibe.”

Another insisted: “People only shower daily because it’s a trend.”

And another added: “We love him even more omgg.”

So, what do you think?
