Tesla Owner with Over 100,000 Miles Details Monthly Savings After Switching

Have you ever considered how much money you could save by driving a Tesla? One electric vehicle (EV) driver has run the numbers for you.

President Biden has been vocal about his plans to significantly increase the presence of electric vehicles on America’s roads.

Last year, the Biden Administration set a goal for electric vehicles to account for at least half of new car sales by 2030. They also proposed creating a nationwide network of 500,000 EV chargers along major highways.

It remains to be seen if these plans will continue when Donald Trump takes office again, but it’s clear that owning an EV, like a Tesla, comes with numerous benefits, and their popularity is increasing annually.

One of the major advantages of owning an electric car is the savings on fuel—something Tesla owners often highlight.

For instance, one individual calculated that they spent less than $400 over a year to charge their Tesla, translating to $0.023 per mile.

In contrast, Americans spent $2,148 on gasoline throughout 2021, according to Motley Fool Money.

This figure increased to an average of $2,449 last year, as reported by J.D. Power, accounting for about 3.2 percent of a household’s annual expenses.

Another Tesla owner recently discussed the monthly savings they benefit from by driving a Tesla.

In a TikTok video with influencer Suleyman Dolaev, the owner mentioned driving a Tesla Model 3 and accumulating 100,000 miles over five years.

When asked if he saves money by driving an EV, he affirmed, highlighting the advantage of charging his car at home instead of using Superchargers.

“I haven’t seen that much of an increase in my electricity bill,” he noted.

Regarding his monthly savings, he estimated, “Urm, an estimate would be maybe, like, $150 to $200.” He pointed out that this is just the savings on gas in New York City, excluding savings from oil changes and other expenses.

He strongly recommends others consider switching to an EV like his Tesla.

“Electrical vehicles are def the move,” commented someone on the TikTok post.

However, some commenters pointed out the high cost of replacing an electric vehicle battery.
