Having an entire all-inclusive five-star resort to oneself sounds almost too good to be true. Surely, there must be a catch.
Even with mental preparation, the experience at a resort can be overwhelming.
Indeed, all-inclusive resorts provide a luxurious escape where you can relax without worrying about meals or plans. However, the downside? Sometimes you have to set an alarm to snag a sunbed in a prime spot, or you might end up far from the buffet and bar.
Ah, the dilemmas of modern life! But one couple didn’t face this problem when they arrived at Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos in Mexico, only to discover they were the sole guests.
Cameron shared on TikTok that when he and his wife arrived, they initially believed they were part of a prank.
In a video shared on TikTok by user @freedomhustle, Cameron recorded the empty sun loungers, pool, and hotel grounds.
The twist? There was no one else there, except for the staff.
While the idea of having a five-star resort to yourself might sound thrilling, Cameron documented the surreal and eerie feeling of being the only guests with his wife.
“At first, it started as a joke… but it feels more like an episode from Black Mirror,” Cameron narrates in the video showing the deserted resort.
Initially, the couple seemed to enjoy the isolation, but over time, the breathtaking locale began to feel unsettling.
Rather than lounging with a mojito, Cameron’s curiosity took over.
This led him to explore the resort thoroughly, hoping to find signs of other guests.
His efforts, however, were fruitless.
“Every time I think I see someone that’s not wearing a white uniform, I get excited, only to realize, no, just more contractors working on the place. Which, again, was kind of cool, until it wasn’t,” Cameron explains.
After comprehending that he and his wife were the only guests, Cameron started considering the financial logistics of managing the resort.
“How is this place paying for all these lights?” he wonders aloud in the video.
“How are these fire pits being lit all day, all night for us? Who is paying for all this? This entire kingdom is just for us.”
The New York Post reached out to the resort in light of the viral video, and the resort assured they can operate under any circumstances.
Melissa Wisenbaker stated: “Velas Resorts operate at 100% regardless of the number of actual guests staying on property.
“That is a staff to guest ratio of three to one, versus at many other resorts that are the opposite (three guests to every one staff).”
