Donald Trump faced ridicule online after he expressed dissatisfaction on Truth Social over a 2019 portrait of himself.
It’s not uncommon for the former president to air his grievances on Truth Social, but his latest tirade has left many puzzled.
Trump criticized the quality of his portrait at the Colorado Capitol, comparing it unfavorably to Barack Obama’s, which he claimed looked excellent.
In an unexpected twist, Trump also criticized Colorado Governor Jared Polis in his post, demanding the portrait’s removal, even though the governor had no role in its commissioning.
Trump stated, “Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before.”
He continued, “The artist also did President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but the one on me is truly the worst. She must have lost her talent as she got older. In any event, I would much prefer not having a picture than having this one, but many people from Colorado have called and written to complain. In fact, they are actually angry about it!”
Trump further addressed his concerns to Governor Polis, describing him as “extremely weak on Crime” and urging him to remove the portrait. “I am speaking on their behalf to the Radical Left Governor, Jared Polis, who is extremely weak on Crime, in particular with respect to Tren de Aragua, which practically took over Aurora (Don’t worry, we saved it!), to take it down. Jared should be ashamed of himself!”
The portrait had been in place since 2019, during Trump’s time in office.
Interestingly, the portrait’s creation and installation were spearheaded by former Republican state senator Kevin Grantham, who initiated a GoFundMe campaign in 2018 to finance its addition to Colorado’s Hall of Presidential Portraits.
Social media users were quick to mock Trump’s sudden dissatisfaction with the portrait.
One user shared a screenshot of Trump’s outburst with the sarcastic remark, “The president is laser focused on the big issues.”
Another commented, “Trump might be the most triggered snowflake president we have ever seen. Love it.”
A third added, “He is the smallest, weakest, most insecure president we’ve ever had. How is this an issue he needed to spend even an ounce of time on?”
And someone else remarked, “He should be grateful bc that picture looks way better than he ever did.”
