A mother from Texas, Sara Blackburn, decided to have a complete body scan simply for peace of mind but ended up facing an unexpected medical journey. Inspired by the latest health trends popular among celebrities, Sara opted to undergo an MRI with a company called Prenuvo, known for its ability to detect potential health issues before they show symptoms.
Initially, Sara viewed this decision as a precautionary measure to confirm her wellbeing. However, the results shocked her by revealing a hidden, severe condition.
In a TikTok video that has gained nearly 3 million views, Sara explained her experience after receiving her $2,500 MRI results. She recounts: “I just thought [the scan] will give me peace of mind. It really did feel like a spa day. Until it didn’t.”
The scan identified a splenic artery aneurysm, which, according to the Cleveland Clinic, is a dangerous bulge in the artery supplying blood to the spleen, pancreas, and stomach. Often asymptomatic, it can cause sudden severe pain and, if ruptured, lead to life-threatening internal bleeding.
Sara shared on TikTok that a rupture can be fatal in one-third of cases without immediate medical intervention. She described the experience as something she initially undertook “just for fun” but that has led her to undergo an organ removal.
Scheduled alongside her husband’s scan, Sara anticipated a routine check-up during their trip from Houston to Dallas on November 14. Her intention was to alleviate worries about her health but instead led to a startling discovery.
Upon receiving the alarming results, Sara experienced a panic attack and sought urgent medical explanation at a nearby emergency room. Her anxiety about her health led to a difficult two-month period filled with various doctor consultations.
Ultimately, further tests revealed two aneurysms, prompting Sara to make the difficult decision to have her spleen removed. Now, after the procedure, she is adjusting to life following this unexpected health scare.
