JoJo Siwa seems to have confirmed her new romance through a rather intimate selfie.
The Dance Moms star recently developed a close friendship with UK Love Island’s Chris Hughes while they were cohabiting in the Celebrity Big Brother house in April. During this time, Siwa was dating her now-ex, Kath Ebbs. However, she was often seen sharing hugs and close moments with Hughes. Siwa later opened up about her self-discoveries, including that she was ‘not a lesbian’.
Speculation about a potential romantic relationship between the two has been rife, especially after images of their vacation surfaced online, showing a cozy connection.
Now, the duo appears to have confirmed their relationship definitively. Hughes shared a revealing bedroom photo on Snapchat of them cuddling, with him kissing her forehead. The 32-year-old added a caption to the image, saying: “Sleepinnn beauty.”
Previously, the ‘Karma’ singer had denied any romantic involvement and described their relationship as ‘platonic’, even while on the British chat show This Morning. Yet, she recently admitted to her fans that she had developed genuine feelings for Hughes.
While performing in London, Siwa paid tribute to Hughes by altering the lyrics in her rendition of ‘Bette Davis Eyes’, singing ‘Chris Hughes’ eyes’ instead.
During a dance class at Pineapple Dance Studios, a fan inquired about the moment she realized her feelings for Hughes. Siwa responded: “Loads of different times, loads of different times on different levels. I’m very very happy where we are currently, obviously, I mean I literally smile every single second of every single day now.
“One of my personal biggest frustrations in my life now is that I actually don’t know, I genuinely don’t know, and I’ve spoken to him about it, I’ve spoken to my mom about it, I don’t know the moment that it – It was never like a light switch happened, it was just… you know what I mean? And so I genuinely don’t know! It’s serendipity!”
The star also hinted at the possibility of relocating to be with Hughes, although she mentioned she would be dividing her time between the US and the UK for now.
In a conversation with The Guardian, she stated: “It’s not platonic any more, and it’s been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I’m absolutely head over heels for him and he’s the same way.”
Siwa further shared on Sunday Brunch how Hughes has been embraced by her family, recounting how he surprised her by flying to the US for her birthday.
“My parents think the absolute world of him, and him and my Dad are like best friends, Chris was actually telling me this yesterday, they went to the spa together yesterday.
“They’re literally best friends, Mom Siwa she absolutely adores him. I love watching her watch us, because I’ve never seen my mom so happy, and it’s… it’s… I could cry.
“Honestly, it makes me happy to have everybody act as… it feels like we’re a family, it feels like he’s been in my family for how ever many years it feels like forever.
“He gets along as well as I do. I think he loves me because of my parents!”
Meanwhile, Chris also expressed his admiration for their relationship, saying: “She’s just my favourite human and somebody I can literally talk about relentlessly.”
