Educator dismissed over OnlyFans side gig offers unexpected reaction to student discovery

A British educator has shared her perspective after being dismissed due to her provocative OnlyFans account, which some parents found unsuitable.

Kirsty Buchan, 34, departed from her position at Bannerman High School in Glasgow, Scotland, after students stumbled upon her online profile, where she described herself as a ‘good teacher gone bad’.

In an interview with Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley, the former teacher discussed her reasons for joining the platform and the financial benefits it provided.

She explained: “I’m a mom at the end of the day, my son comes first, paying my bills comes first.”

“I spoke to my son before doing it, he’s 14 now. I’d used a different name, I’ve got my moniker Jessica Jackrabbit.”

Before venturing into OnlyFans, Buchan explained that managing her expenses as a single mother on a teacher’s salary was challenging, especially with both her mother and son facing health issues. She also mentioned that she had earned nearly ‘£60k’ in a single month.

The TV hosts questioned her about any concerns regarding the discovery of her profile.

Buchan responded: “I didn’t think I would be caught, a lot of people pretend to be teachers on the site, I didn’t think I would be famous.”

“We all need to take responsibility, of course I knew the risks involved.”

The 34-year-old also addressed concerns from parents and others who believe that a teacher working as an adult content creator is unsuitable.

Buchan acknowledged their right to hold their opinions but stated she was not avoiding accountability for her choices. She also mentioned that she has received support despite losing her job.

A disciplinary hearing took place after her profile was discovered in 2022 and reported to headteacher Seonaidh Black.

It was reported that Buchan was ‘posing in lingerie’ and students shared images with school authorities. The profile was reportedly easily accessible without requiring a fee or sign-up.

Buchan did not attend the hearing.

She stated: “I’ve had only support. Messages of support from all my old colleagues and schoolkids.”

“I worked hard to get respect from them and build a positive relationship.”

“What I’ve taught is, your pictures can go out there. I’m not saying do this, I worked really hard to be a teacher. I went to university, two jobs while being a single mother… I had to do this for extra money.”
