Miley Cyrus’ brother, Trace, has taken to Instagram to express his true feelings about their father, Billy Ray, labeling him as ‘fame hungry’ and ‘pathetic’.
Billy Ray is the father of Grammy Award-winning artist Miley, as well as Noah, Braison, and Christopher. He also adopted Tish’s two other children, Brandi and Trace, who is known for being part of the band Metro Station.
The ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ singer has been making headlines recently, particularly following his controversial performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration in January. This has highlighted tensions between him and his children.
In a detailed message on Instagram, Trace shared: “Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever. I wanted to be just like you.
“The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life. Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now.”
He continued: “It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you. You may be upset with me for posting this but I really couldn’t care less at this point.
“Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years, but you’ve pushed all of us away.”
In a series of Instagram Stories posted on June 10, Trace described his father as ‘so hungry for fame’ and called him ‘pathetic’.
He wrote: “He really flew to Italy for a fashion show but wouldn’t come to LA for Mammie’s funeral while he was still married to my mom,” adding, “Even after his daughter got him a $60k private jet like he demanded.
“You’re the lamest man ever to walk planet earth. Honestly embarrassed to have ever considered you my idol.
“The best thing to come from your downfall is it made me go into beast mode. I refuse to be a washed-up, delusional, evil person when I’m old like you. Get right with God. You need it.”
Trace’s Instagram post from January apparently didn’t sit well with Billy Ray, as Trace mentioned that his father threatened legal action against him.
“Dad my message was beyond loving,” Trace responded. “I could have been extremely honest about a lot more but I don’t want to put your business out there like that. But for you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace.”
The post continued: “Pappy is looking down at you with such disappointment I can assure you. You should be ashamed of yourself.
“I will always love you but I no longer respect you as a man. Everyone close to you is terrified to tell you how they really feel. I’m not. Get help.”
