Donald Trump reacts sharply to eye-opening new approval ratings revealing US sentiment

Donald Trump has provided a response following recent polls regarding public opinion on his presidency.

Since beginning his second term as President of the United States five months ago, Trump has implemented various policies, such as his contentious immigration restrictions, which have sparked protests in Los Angeles.

Not everyone is in favor of his policies, which also encompass higher tariffs and limitations on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

A Quinnipiac University poll released last Wednesday (June 11) indicated that only 38 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s presidency, marking the lowest approval rating in 80 years, according to ABC News.

Participants in the poll were asked about their views on the economy, immigration, the Ukraine-Russia conflict, his past association with Elon Musk, and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which Musk previously led. The results have not favored Trump’s second term.

Despite this, Trump seems undeterred, having claimed on his social media platform that his poll numbers were ‘great.’

Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday (June 18): “Great Poll Numbers For Trump!”

Shortly after making this statement, the president shared a link to polling from InsiderAdvantage, which indicated he had a +10 job approval rating, a potential case of selective presentation.

The study highlighted that only 38 percent of respondents approved of Trump’s trade policy. His immigration policy, traditionally a stronger area for him, saw a decline, with only 43 percent approving.

Regarding the Ukraine-Russia war, just 34 percent approved of Trump’s handling, with polling analyst Tim Malloy commenting: “As the Russia-Ukraine war grinds through its third year, Americans make it clear they have little appetite for the way the Trump administration is handling the situation.”

When questioned about Musk’s involvement with the administration, Malloy noted: “Though Musk isn’t as popular with Republicans as he once was, he and DOGE get a hearty high five from a healthy majority of Republicans.”

In the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris poll on Monday (June 16), Trump’s approval rating fell for the fifth consecutive month, decreasing from 47 percent to 46 percent since the previous month. Trump continues to have strong support among Republican, male, 25 to 44-year-old white, and rural voters, with immigration being his most favorable area at 49 percent approval.
