Another man in critical condition following tragic drowning of Cosby Show star Malcolm-Jamal Warner in Costa Rica

Another individual received medical attention at the site where efforts were made to save Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

On Sunday, June 20, The Cosby Show actor, aged 54, was swimming near a Costa Rican beach when he was caught in a powerful current, resulting in his drowning.

Observers reportedly assisted by bringing Warner ashore. Despite attempts to revive him, Warner was declared deceased at the location.

Officials have stated that the Suits actor’s cause of death was suffocation. He leaves behind his spouse and their eight-year-old daughter.

According to a report by PEOPLE, Warner was not the only individual experiencing difficulties in the water, as authorities were also notified about another person requiring assistance at the scene.

The news outlet reports that a ‘water-related’ incident was reported to the Costa Rican Red Cross at the Playa Grande resort in Cahuita, Limon.

In response, three ambulances were dispatched to provide medical care to those injured. Warner succumbed to his injuries, while the other man was transported to a Limon clinic in critical condition.

It is believed that, like Warner, the second individual was also ‘dragged by a water current at the beach,’ according to information from the Costa Rican Red Cross.

Following Warner’s unexpected death, tributes have been pouring in from Hollywood celebrities. His co-star from The Resident, Emily VanCamp, posted a photo of them together on Instagram.

In the caption, she expressed: “I’m not sure I have the words to express what a gift it was to know you and to work with you. Your thunderous laugh, the bear hugs, our chats about love, family and life. A true family man with so much integrity and an endlessly generous spirit. You walked the walk my friend.

“Sending all my love to your beautiful family and all of those who knew you and were close to you. Beyond heartbroken.”

Additionally, actor Tyrese Gibson wrote a poetic tribute to Warner. The poem, titled ‘The Gentle Giant,’ included a section in his heartfelt Twitter post: “Today, we lost a gentle giant. A man who won our hearts not by force, but by quiet grace. From the very beginning, Malcolm-Jamal Warner reminded us that being calm, classy, sophisticated, and soulful could carry you far in life.

“He was the soft-spoken strength behind a generation’s most beloved show.

“We watched The Cosby Show and saw, for the first time, a world many of us had never known. A Black family made up of doctors, lawyers, artists, and thinkers. A household rooted in love, education, laughter, and dignity.”
