Fans Stunned as Jason Momoa Shaves Beard for First Time in Six Years

Fans of Jason Momoa were taken by surprise when they saw the Aquaman actor without his beard for the first time in six years.

The 45-year-old has been widely recognized for his iconic facial hair, but in a recent Instagram post, the actor showed that it’s no longer part of his look.

On Wednesday (July 30), Momoa posted a video on Instagram where he shaved off his well-known beard, marking the first time in over half a decade. The video carried an important message regarding the use of single-use plastics.

“Haven’t shaved in six years, and here we are again,” Momoa captioned the post.

The Dune actor elaborated: “I launched @mananalu to help eliminate single-use plastic. Now, we’re taking it even further, partnering with our team at @Getboomerangwater to bring in a closed-loop system that sanitizes and bottles water onsite.

“That means even less waste, reduced shipping footprint, and our aluminum bottles get reused over and over.

“This is the future, and we’re starting in Hawaii. Let’s get rid of single-use plastic. For our children and for our planet. All my aloha, J.”

In the video, Momoa addressed “Only for you, Denis,” referring to Dune director Denis Villeneuve.

Expressing his feelings about the change, the actor added: “Goddamnit! I hate it,” referring to his new appearance.

Online reactions to Momoa’s grooming decision left many fans amazed, with one Twitter user exclaiming: “Babe wake up Jason Mamoa has a bald face,” while another stated: “Jason Mamoa looks completely different!!”

Momoa’s son, Nakoa-Wolf, is set to portray the child of Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya’s characters in the third Dune movie, slated for release in December 2026.

Momoa, who will reprise his role as Duncan Idaho in the third Dune film, dismissed any rumors that he played a role in securing his son’s acting gig, emphasizing that his son achieved it independently.

In a recent interview with Extra, Momoa quipped: “He’s in for a rude awakening is what he’s in for. He’s into the workforce for the first time.”

Addressing speculation about nepotism, the actor added: “It’s going to be good. He did it on his own. I don’t want to help him, and he’s done it all on his own, and good for him.

“You want your children to be better than you, and I really, actually believe he is. I couldn’t do what he’s doing at his age. There’s no way I could sit in a room with [Dune 3 director] Denis Villeneuve and hold my own. I was on Baywatch at 19. He’s 16 and holding s*** down with Denis Villeneuve.”

The film is scheduled to hit theaters in 2026, and audiences will see how much screen time Momoa and his son share together.
