Erika Lane Frantzve, widow of the well-known US activist Charlie Kirk, recently shared a poignant social media post that has taken on a new significance following her husband’s tragic death at the age of 31.
Frantzve, along with the couple’s young children, was present during a debate event at Utah Valley University on September 10 when Kirk was fatally shot by a single bullet from a nearby rooftop.
Kirk, who was attending the debate as part of his work with Turning Point, an organization he co-founded at the age of 18, was known for promoting conservative values at predominantly liberal college campuses. His work often sparked controversy as he engaged in debates on issues such as gender identity, climate change, and family values.
Footage from the event captured the moment Kirk, while speaking under a white tent to a gathered audience, was abruptly shot.
Donald Trump, a close ally of Kirk, confirmed the tragic news on Truth Social, describing Kirk as ‘legendary.’
In the wake of the shooting, attention has been drawn to a Bible verse shared by Frantzve on social media shortly before the incident, which took on a deeper meaning after Kirk’s death.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, at 12:45 pm, Frantzve wrote: “Psalm 46:1 – God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Within hours, the devastating news of Kirk’s passing was confirmed.
Social media users have since expressed their condolences to Frantzve. One user commented: “Jesus is holding you in his warm embrace. We are heartbroken.”
Another added: “The fact that you posted this before the event, is a testament of the Lord.”
A third person shared: “Your husband is with Jesus. He was a hero and an inspiration. You will see him again, although I know that is no consolation to you and your precious babies right now. I’m so sorry that you are going through this. Evil is rampant in this country.”
Frantzve, who was crowned Miss Arizona USA in 2012, married Kirk in 2021 after meeting him three years prior.
In a heartfelt Instagram post in 2022, Frantzve expressed her love for Kirk, writing: “God knew all along, it was you. Charles James you are my today and all of my tomorrow’s. How blessed I am to have you as my husband and how honored I am to be your wife. May our marriage continue to glorify God. I love you endlessly.”
The couple welcomed two children after their marriage: a daughter in August 2022 and a son in May 2024.
